Getting To Know You + Me: What Are You Most Grateful For Everyday And Why?

Getting To Know You + Me

This series is about getting to know you + me.  It’s a reflection of sorts to help you get to know yourself better (and I’m going to share, too!)  When we know ourselves better, it’s easier for others to know us, too, and that creates stronger bonds + connections.  As a result, we feel happier.

Here’s how it works:  I’ll be posting a question here on the blog and you can share your answer in the comments below or on Facebook, Instagram or Google+ using the hashtag #gettingtoknowyouandme .  The cool part is that you can use the hashtag to find others on the same journey.  Who knows?  You may make a new friend.

Getting To Know You + Me grateful

There are so many things I am grateful for–birds in my backyard, peanut butter and rhubarb jelly sandwiches, my nieces and their silly jokes, a clear sky when I can see all of the stars, a sex and the city marathon when I’m on the elliptical at the gym, dark chocolate + ginger, friends who just listen and let me babble, homemade pizza…I could go on and on.

But I’d have to say the thing I’m most grateful for in my life is my health.

Back in 2008 I went on a trip of a lifetime, touring around India and Nepal.  It was a 3 week trip to see the beautiful cities of Northern India and then cross over into the amazing country of Nepal.  When I left home, I knew it was going to be one of those trips that would change me forever.  I was prepared to be out of my comfort zone, I just didn’t know quite how much!

I ended up getting really, really  sick (as in almost not making it home) but through the kindness of strangers, and a few questionable medical facilities, I was able to get the help I needed to get better.  It made me appreciate my health so much more after I recovered.   It also made me realize that if I am physically well, I can handle just about anything.

If you’re curious about what happened and want to read more, here is the link to my travel blog for that trip.

Now it’s your turn–what are you most grateful for?  Tell me in the comments below or show me on instagram with the tag: #gettingtoknowyouandme
