Lately Around here

This weekend felt like a week.  You know those kind?  They feel so loooonnnngggg and relaxing?  I don’t know if it was because of the rainy weather on Friday that set the stage to just chill out or if it was because I had 3 days off in a row with some of my favorite people, but it was an awesome time of rest and relaxation.

See those big smiles?  That’s me and my sister Liv, and we’re smiling because we know what’s ahead of us for the holiday weekend–lots of hanging out, laughing and eating delicious food.

To start us off, Chris cooked an amazing Paiea feast.  This prep area was pretty impressive in my book–I wouldn’t even know where to begin to know how to do this.

The next day for round two, we had lobsters at Chris’s parent’s house.  I want to be a lobster person, really I do.  I want to be someone that squeals with happiness when it’s on the menu, but…. I’m not.  Even still, it was pretty great to watch everyone go to town on them and enjoy every buttery-dripped moment.

Sunday, I took a break from the eating marathon and sat down to paint for the first time in the new house.  I missed it so much and it felt so good to get back in the groove–I love, love, love my new studio (aka the back bedroom).  It’s a dream come true to have the space to explore and get lost in colors again.

Link Love

Some of my favorite links around the web this week:

Here are some great tips on how to be the boss of your inbox.  I’m totally guilty of number 1.

Busy vs. productive.  Which one are you?

Here’s an interesting concept for Spotify users: The Long Tail creates play lists of the least played songs of your favorite artists.  It’s a great way to mix up your play list.

I am so fascinated by tiny houses and now I can see them all over the country!

An ode to you, the artist who dances on the edge.

Getting Fresh at The Farmer’s Market

I went to a cool Farmer’s Market this weekend where there was more than your average vegetable selling going on.  There were prepared food, crafts, clothes, jewelry and art–It was inspiring on so many levels!

Here’s the first thing I saw: a table of terrariums.  It’s like bringing the outside world in; How cool is that?  If you want to make your own terrarium, here are instructions step by step.

Talk about inspiring, here was a father creating his art and his son was drawing right next to him!  They were both intense on their creations, I loved seeing that connection they share.

From Seed to Sprout represented with some beautiful organic fruit, scones and leafy greens (oh my!)  It was certainly good motivation to get my butt over to their vegan eatery in Avon.

Lastly, we met the owner of Jar Goods.  She told an inspiring story of how she jumped ship from the corporate world and started her own company to create a better life for her and her child.  Her first product is this delicious red sauce (it was her father’s recipe).  See that woman peeking out in the back?  That’s her mom helping out!  Sweet family love.

Weekend in pictures {June 10, 2013}

What an amazing weekend!  Isn’t the warm weather glorious?  A little food, some drinks, lots of fresh air–it soothed the beast in me.  Counting the days (4) until I can do it again…

I got the new Samsung Galaxy 4 and my god the pictures it takes are amazing!!  Morning at Loch Arbour beach:

Zaitooni’s for lunch.  Fresh Mediterranean food in Red Bank–everything is homemade!

Some food and spirits at Porta .  (Sweet friends bought us drinks!)
