Getting To Know You + Me: Join the journey of personal growth + getting to know others.

This series is about getting to know you + me.  It’s a reflection of sorts to help you get to know yourself better (and I’m going to share, too!)  When we know ourselves better, it’s easier for others to know us, too, and that creates stronger bonds + connections.  As a result, we feel happier.

Here’s how it works:  I’ll be posting a question here on the blog and you can share your answer in the comments below or on Facebook, Instagram or Google+ using the hashtag #gettingtoknowyouandme .  The cool part is that you can use the hashtag to find others on the same journey.  Who knows?  You may make a new friend.

Getting To Know You + Me: A series on connecting more with ourselves + others.

This is one of the typical interview questions that I used to cringe at trying to answer because I had a hard time figuring out how to do it without feeling like I was bragging.  But then I heard the question rephrased to: What is your greatest strength that people compliment you on a lot?  That totally put it in a new perspective for me and took the braggy pressure off.

So.  I’m pretty sure my greatest strength (that people often comment on) is how I can see the bright side to any situation.  Call it a Polly Anna attitude or delusion, but I can see the good in everything and I think that has made all of the difference in living a full, happy life.  My mom had this wonderful viewpoint too + I’m so grateful it rubbed off on me!

But let’s be clear: I am definitely not immune to getting annoyed like everyone else, it’s just not usually my first reaction.  I try to see the silver lining in each moment and that allows me to move on from difficult situations a LOT faster than if I gave in to the gloom + doom.

So what about you?  What’s your greatest strength that others often compliment you on?  This trait is a blessing + catalyst in your life, so don’t downplay it!
